2 Corinthians 3:18 KJV
[18] But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
James 1:22-24 KJV
[22] But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
[23] For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
[24] For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
It is essential that you approach all Bible studies and sermons in a certain way. Your purpose must be to be transformed by them. Even if it is just a little bit. To not pay attention or to pay attention and learn something new, and then not apply it, is a slap in God's face. It is like burning $100 bills, but much worse. One main piece of evidence that a person is saved is that they are being continually transformed, "from glory to glory."
I have noticed that people are not usually transformed, but keep on doing what they are in a habit of doing, what they are used to, and what other people do. However, they deceive themselves, believing they are living in obedience to the Lord, because they forget their sinning that was revealed to them by Scripture.
