Threats are one of the ways God uses to cause His children to obey Him.

Many claim that God does not threaten people. However, there are a lot of threats in the Bible.

For example,

1 Corinthians 3:17 KJV

[17] If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

and

Hebrews 10:38B-39 KJV

[38] if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.

[39] But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

Often people conclude some Christians will "draw back" and others will not. Perhaps, but not necessarily. It may be that no saved people "draw back," because God's threats keep them from "drawing back." Notice what it says in verse 39.

These threats throughout the Bible are one of God's ways to get His people to obey Him.

Reputedly, Pablo Escobar, the infamous drug lord, got almost 100% compliance from the police and others, mostly by threats. Certainly God is more skillful than Pablo Escobar. God is able to get 100% compliance.
