Learning to forgive often requires practice, like many other things people learn. In order to practice forgiveness, people have to sin against you.

God may allow people to sin against you time and time again, in order to give you more and more practice, until you overcome and master forgiveness.

1 Timothy 4:7B-8 KJV

[7] exercise thyself rather unto godliness.

[8] For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.

Matthew 18:21-23 KJV

[21] Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

[22] Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
