So many ways to get saved, according to “churches.”

Churches tell people to get saved in so many different ways. No wonder they are filled with fake Christians.

Here are a few examples from churches’ websites.

I mostly chose churches randomly from different parts of the world.

The heart of the Christian gospel is that God forgives everyone who asks Him for forgiveness. Indeed, God not only forgives us, He justifies us by His grace, which means God treats us as though we were not guilty.”

According to this church, people are saved by just asking God to forgive them.

“Salvation

We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is God’s gift to you if you’ll accept it. It is not a result of our good works, self-improvement, or of any human efforts. It is only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness that you can be saved from sin’s penalty.”

Saved by faith in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. (All people have to do is believe a historical fact, that Jesus died, was buried and resurrected? What if you believe He died and resurrected, but not that He was buried?)

“(d) The Way of Salvation. We believe that the only way of salvation is through the righteousness and blood of Jesus Christ our Lord, whom God hath set forth to be the propitiation for our sins through faith in His blood.”

Saved by faith in Jesus’ blood. What does that even mean? Perhaps it means saved by faith in Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself on the cross to pay the penalty for sins. However, it does not actually say that.

“We believe that in order to receive forgiveness and the ‘new birth’ we must repent of our sins, believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and submit to His will for our lives.”

Repent of sins, believe in (trust) Jesus’ lordship (authority), His Christ-ship (not explained) and submit to His authority. Four things.

“We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides salvation for the soul of everyone that believes…”

Kampala, Uganda

You are saved by believing Christ did redemptive work on the cross. What exactly that work was is not specified.

(Though not a church, I included Billy Graham’s take on salvation.) “To be saved, admit to God that you are a sinner. …He forgives our sins when we ask for forgiveness.” https://billygraham.org/basics-of-christianity/salvation

Two things to do to be saved. Admit you are a sinner, and ask for forgiveness.

“Creemos que Jesucristo, Dios y hombre, es el único que puede restaurar nuestra relación con Dios. Él vivió sin pecado, murió en la cruz por nosotros y resucitó para comprobar su victoria y darnos poder para enfrentar la vida.

Creemos que para recibir el perdón y nacer de nuevo necesitamos arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados, creer en el Señor Jesucristo y someternos a su voluntad.”

Su Presencia, a mega church in Colombia, states, in Spanish, the same thing that The Belonging Co declares (above).

“Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. You accept this gift by placing your faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus and choosing to live your life according to His Word.”

You are saved by trusting in the death and resurrection of Jesus (but not His burial, as Zeal Church states (above)). And choosing to live according to the Bible‘s commandments. Two things.

“ABOUT SALVATION

We believe that by God’s grace through faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ, a right relationship with Him is eternally secured,“

One is saved by putting faith in the person and work of Jesus Christ. What does it mean to put faith in the person of Jesus Christ? He is a person, so what other way is there to put faith in Jesus, but as a person? Jesus did and still does a lot of works. Must you know about all of them and put faith in all of them? Or does this refer to one specific work? If so, which one?

There is some truth in each of these. But even the ones that are biblically accurate do not explain well how to be saved. So people are left to come into their own understandings, usually erroneous. Salvation, which is of such grave importance, must not be treated so haphazardly.

“I will never forget the words of one of the church leaders, …when he looked me sternly in the eye and said, ‘J. B., you care too much about the gospel. Not everyone cares about it as much as you.’

“…there is nothing that matters more in life than the gospel.

“No longer is the Bible the foremost core value in evangelical churches. In fact, in many cases, the Bible is absent altogether.

“The very thing that the world needs most, the gospel, has been downplayed, ignored and redefined with devastating results.”

GETTING THE GOSPEL WRONG, THE EVANGELICAL CRISIS NO ONE IS TALKING ABOUT by J. B. Hixson

Though it seems Hixson‘s book contains much error, these quotes pinpoint the root cause of the many disasters in so-called churches.
